In the coming months, la Trinité-sur-Mer will live to the rythm of the multihull MOD70 N°05 Spindrift racing’s training program with the N°03 Foncia, with the bay of Quiberon and the Glénans’ islands as their playground.
Having just arrived in its home port of La Trinité-sur-Mer, the black and white trimaran Spindrift racing is currently being meticulously prepared by its sailing and shore team under the watchful eyes of the skipper Yann Guichard. Since last Monday, the crew in place has indeed entered its active phase of training and development of the boat in order to uncover all the secrets of this “Formula 1″ of the seas.
“Days like these are very interesting for the crew. It is a learning phase where we really discover the boat and try to grasp all its aspects. Today, Vincent Lauriot-Prevost, the architect of the MOD70 came on board and thus, allowed us to spend a privileged moment by sharing information in order for this new multihull to unveil all of its secrets” said Yann Guichard just returning from a training and calibration session in around 18 knots of breeze and a flat sea, providing perfect conditions. “I appreciate this monotype format because it allows men to be at the forefront; the crew will make the difference on this circuit” he adds.
Foncia’s MOD70 will shortly join Spindrift racing in la Trinité for a week of inshore and offshore training sessions. “When Michel Desjoyeaux proposed to train together, I didn’t hesitate. His reputation is well established. Besides the fact that he is an excellent competitor, he knows how to choose his crew. Foncia is a strong team with plenty of experience. We will try to share and work on the small adjustments, to improve and be competitive for the start of the first race in New York, “added the skipper of Spindrift racing.
Alongside the training sessions, Spindrift racing will also take part in local races such as the Tour de Belle-Île, the Armen Race and the Trophy SNSM which will provide an opportunity to line up against the other MOD70 teams.
