Laure Lunven
Spindrift for Schools project manager

Born 3 May 1981 in Vannes
Lives in La Forêt Fouesnant

Born and raised in the Gulf of Morbihan, Laure sailed on Optimists from an early age, and as the years went by, realised how important it was for her to live by the ocean. Her decision to study biochemistry was defined by her certainty that the major discoveries of the future would be found from studying the ocean. She lived in France, Ireland and Canada while completing her master’s degree, before settling in La Forêt Fouesnant in Finistère. Her passion for sailing caught up with her there, and Laure decided to align her love of sailing with her scientific interests. Based in the heartland of offshore racing, she worked to ensure media coverage for sailors as well as large scale sailing events. Gifted in communicating, discussing, learning, as well as simplifying messages to share with a wider public, it was only natural that Spindrift racing should turn to Laure to manage its educational programme, Spindrift for Schools. The aim? To illustrate concepts addressed in class (science, life together, sport) with educational tools inspired by Spindrift racing’s adventures.
