Ladycat powered by Spindrift racing won two races to finish third in the Open de Crans, the second round of the 2014 Vulcain Trophy, on Lake Geneva this weekend, a result which takes them into the overall lead of the cutting edge competition. A lack of wind on Sunday saw sailing suspended without a race and the competition between the field of 11 swift D35 catamarans was decided by the six races on Saturday. In 10 knots of south-westerly breeze on Saturday, Ladycat finished third behind Tilt (1st) and Realstone (2nd) after winning the third and fourth races. The conditions were tricky for the crews with wind shifts of up to 40 degrees forcing the race committee to alter the course several times.

Xavier Revil, on the helm, enjoyed the Grand Prix and had a positive analysis of the day’s racing: "Saturday was a great day of racing despite a little bit of a difficult southwest wind,” Revil said. “In the first two races we had trouble keeping up with the wind shifts, but all the teams were in the same boat. Our crew also had to settle in because we had two new people on board for the Open de Crans. Then the wind stabilised and it allowed us to win two races. The boat is working very well, it’s really quick, we had good tactics from François Morvan, we put ourselves in good positions and it paid off. Then the wind was quite unstable again for the last two races. We tried to stay in touch and finish as high up as we could and widen the gap in the overall standings between us and our opponents."

Ladycat powered by Spindrift racing takes its place at the top of the overall standings of the Vulcain Trophy thanks to the two podiums in the first two rounds of the season: "We're all very happy with the result,” Revil said, “the boat was very well prepared, it was a pleasure to helm and we’re already looking forward to the next Grand Prix.”

The next round is the Genève – Rolle – Genève on June 7th !
