Jules Verne Trophy record, 2012, in 45 days, 13 hours and 42 minutes

Xavier Revil, originally from Savoy, discovered sailing in Senegal. His parents were aid workers and he was destined to become an engineer. He combined his passion and study in the textiles; with work placements with a sailmaker or a rope specialist, before starting the preparation for the Beijing Olympics in the Tornado. Already champion of France in 2002 and 2003 and 3rd in the world championship in 2005, world no.1 in 2006 and 3rd in the European Championship in 2007, he knew on what path he was heading. Relatively new to ocean racing, he was with Banque Populaire from 2009 to 2011 and participated in its outstanding sequence of records that we know so well. Meanwhile, Xavier Revil made a name for himself aboard the D35 Banque Populaire on Lake Geneva, winning the D35 Championship in 2010 and 2011. In 2012, he sailed aboard the MOD70 Foncia, before joining Spindrift racing and its extensive set of projects in 2013.
