Thomas Le Breton
Sailor

BORN FEBRUARY 5TH 1982 IN PONT L'ABBÉ (29)
LIVES IN BREST (29)

With a strong sailing background Thomas Le Breton is a Finisterian through and through. He caught the sailing bug early sailing an Optimist and a Laser before becoming a member of the French Olympic Sailing team in Brest. He is considered to be one of France's best regatta sailors and has trained for three Olympic Games, first in the Laser and then the Finn. For Thomas, sailing is first and foremost a professional sport in which he invests all his time, even putting his STAPS sport studies on hold. Hungry for both new solo and team challenges, Thomas decided to turn to crewed races on an AC45 and then a MOD70. Yann Guichard first spotted Thomas a few years ago and was impressed by his tactical expertise as well as by his physical demeanour. They went sailing together on the GC32 Spindrift before Thomas joined the French challenger in 2015 to compete in the most recent America’s Cup. It was a dream come true for this calm and serene tactician, and he has now rejoined the black and gold team to attempt to win the Jules Verne Trophy.
