Just one month after the GKSS Match Cup Sweden, where Yann Guichard and the Spindrift racing team reached the quarter-finals, the 18 teams on the circuit are again preparing to compete in this new event of the World Match Racing Tour.

The Match Cup Russia will be held on the waters of the Neva River in the heart of St Petersburg. Experience will be important as teams manage the tricky winds and currents of this unusual venue with its spectacular backdrop of the fortress of SS Peter and Paul.

Racing will be held on this stretch of water located at the foot of the  fortress ensuring the public a beautiful cultural and sporting spectacle between 1st - 6th August.

"This is the first time I have ever sailed on the Neva river in Russia, and we will need to be able to adapt quickly to the different situation of sailing on such a narrow stretch of water. It will definitely be full-on and intense!"
Yann Guichard
